Paws in Paradise's mission is to build better communities through superior, dedicated pet care. Our pets are our children and part of our families — and we treat every animal trusted to us with that same loving care.
Our story
How it started, in 2006
In 2006, our founder Judy Wong left her job in corporate America to pursue her passion and love for pets. She attended grooming school at the American Academy of Pet Grooming in New York City, where she learned not only how to groom, but the ins and outs of the pet industry.
After months of searching for the perfect location, she chose Park Slope — with Prospect Park a short walk away, a fast-growing pet community, and a real need for better pet services. What began as a grooming salon with a small boutique soon grew to include daycare and boarding, because Park Slope pets deserved the best possible care (and Judy loved bringing her own dog to work every day).
Giving back
More than a pet shop
Taking care of a pet is in many ways no different from taking care of a child. People love their pets and want only the best for them — that's why our knowledgeable staff is always available for questions about pet care, nutrition, and product recommendations. Stop in, call us during the day, or send an email, and we'll do our best to help.
We've also partnered with Good Shepherd Services to provide job internships and learning opportunities for young adults getting into the pet industry. Interns gain hands-on experience across different fields and career paths — a chance to learn firsthand and empower themselves in the process.
