Our Goal

Our goal at Paws in Paradise is to provide the best care possible for the pets that come to our facility. We treat everyone associated with our business as part of our family and feel that it is not only important to bring services that fulfill important needs in the community, but also give back to the community that has welcomed us.

 

History

In 2006, our founder Judy Wong left her job in corporate America to pursue her passion and love for pets. She attended grooming school at the American Academy of Pet Grooming located in New York City where she learned not only how to groom, but also the ins and outs of the pet industry. She loves animals and knew that it was important for her to dedicate her life doing something in the pet industry, thus Paws in Paradise was born.

After months of searching for the perfect location she decided on a location in Park Slope. Park Slope was the perfect community for Paws in Paradise because it has Prospect Park only a short walk away, a vastly growing pet community, and a lack of pet service businesses that fulfilled the needs of the neighborhood.

When Judy first decided to open Paws in Paradise, it was originally planned to only be a grooming facility with a small boutique. However after months of deliberation she realized that she had to also provide a daycare and boarding service because the current facilities that were located in Park Slope did not provide the best possible care that Park Slope pets deserved. She also loved the idea of being able to bring her dog to work with her everyday.

 

Giving Back

We know that taking care of a pet is in many ways no different then taking care of a child. People love their pets and want to provide only the best for them, that is why our knowledgeable staff is always available for any questions or concerns that you may have about pet care, nutrition, product recommendations, etc.… Stop in, call us during the day, or leave us an email and we will try our best to help you in anyway that we can.

It can be extremely difficult to pick out the right food, treats, or anything else that you may want to buy for your pets. While we might love for our dog to be able to tell us what kind of food they like, most dogs can be rather picky about what they are eating. At Paws in Paradise we try to always stock up on samples of different foods and treats so that you can try them before you buy. Feel free to always ask about what kind of samples we have available or you may end up buying your dog a bag of food that they won’t eat.

Paws in Paradise has also partnered with Good Shepherd Services to provide job internships and learning opportunities for young adults looking to get into the pet industry. Interns are given the opportunities to gain experience and learn about different career paths that they could pursue. It is important for young adults that are looking to get into the Pet Industry to be able to experience firsthand the different fields of the industry and empower themselves in process.
